Ron is planning on having some battery-powered engines on the layout.
To simulate ballast (and to hide the look of cork), Ron sprays the area with this product.
The scenery base is either foam board (right) or cardboard webbing.
Ron pulled out his A.C. Gilbert 0-6-0 which he received Christmas of 1959. After at least years in storage, the model ran immediately as soon as power was provided to the rail. It's passing over Box Avenue on Ron's layout. The PRR had trackage rights on the parallel DL&W which must have been temporarily out of service at the time of the photo.
