Maintenance-of-Way cars are non-revenue-producing equipment that railroads need to maintain and repair their track. They are used for grading and preparing roadbed for track, transporting and laying ties and rail, re-grading existing track, and recovering from damage done due to derailments, accidents, flooding, or landslides.
