Fred built his first layout when he re-discovered his A.C. Gilbert American Flyer trains shortly after getting married. The layout was started in 1975.

This 2-6-6-2 was built from two A.C. Gilbert K5 locomotives by Rusty Westermeier's father. It was Fred's favorite engine to run on the layout.
