Prototype 'American Flyer' Passenger Cars

The New York, New Haven & Hartford ordered 50 92-seat passenger cars in 1937 that were meant to be lightweight. They were designed by Walter Dorwin Teague and eventually Pullman Standard built over 270 of them, 205 going to the NH. Pullman called these the "American Flyer" passenger cars, as they were modeled after the A.C. Gilbert American Flyer passenger cars (S-scale bodies on O-gauge track) of the time. Prototype information and photos can be found on this Railway Classics web page.
