1961-62 Gilbert once again broke from their standard where all items carried a 5-digit catalog number. They produced three engines and three cars, many of which were uncataloged. The Game Train locomotive was cataloged 1963 only. It has one unpainted black plastic variation that is poorly made.

The #21166 was produced from 1963 through 1965 in two variations, which are both shown in the photo. The first variation, which is the most common, has all white lettering on the tender. The second variation which is vary scarce, and typically costs ten times more than the first, has the Burlington Route logo printed in reverse whereas the Burlington lettering is black on a white background.
