The Rio Grande ran their passenger consists with the lowest numbered cars at the head of the train. Thus the highest numbered cars would bring up the rear, requiring marker lamps to protect the rear of the train.

This was a business car converted to a kitchen/commissary car as rebuilt in 1917 or 1921. Since this was used by employees, this car was always placed immediately behind the locomotive, with the open vestibule toward the engine. The model has a partition, but no detailed interior. Painted green with gold lettering. P-B-L also produced a version that had a conductor's bay window.
