Rio Grande Models Denver & Rio Grande Western (D&RGW) Idler Flat Cars

Bill Winans describes that he made the dual-gauge couplers by using a Kadee 802 and #5. The 802's box was narrowed by removing the screw holes on the sides so that it fits inside the center- and end-sill beams, and gluing it in place. The bottom of the box was then made level with the end sill and the center beams (which does expose the internals of the coupler). The offset coupler, the Kadee #5, is in its own unmodified box which is screwed to the 802 box with the screw catching the metal of the end sill projection beside the 802 box.
