This engine was part of a battery-powered train set. Randy reports that it is similar to the American Models engine, except not as detailed. The "Supplemental" link is to a PDF file that Randy created about how he converted the Ertl GP35 into a functional, although dummy, model that runs on S-scale track. Note, however, that the Ertl model has very thick wheel flanges, so they have to be replaced/reworked.
