Jace drilled all the holes for the elaborate grabirons on the ends while they were flat. He then soldered ends and sides together. Next, he drilled and tapped the angles he had soldered to the inside of the sides to be able to attach the floor. After that he soldered the center-beam to the floor and inset it into the ends. The next steps involve soldering on the body bolsters and attaching the trucks.

This is a built-up version of the kit, but Dick Karnes built his to the NYC prototype, using Walthers and Microscale decals, American Models sprung trucks, and HO-scale Kadee couplers.
