Dick Karnes built this model, where he kit-bashed it from the original 32-foot length to a 40-foot plywood-sheathed NYC 'Pacemaker' caboose (making it a 20000-series NYC car). The kit's sides have been overlaid with four-foot-wide panels of 0.050 inch sheet styrene. A Plastruct channel was used for the side sills.

This is of another one of Dick's kit-bashed models, this time shortening it to create a 17000-series NYC caboose. This model is equipped with the V&T Shops T-section Bettendorf trucks.
