Notes:
This is Jeff's first attempt at building a model railroad layout.
This is the framework Jeff built out of 1x4 boards with bracing. He built two of them at the same time. They are each 30" x 72". They have alignment pins and will all be marked to go together in a certain way. Each module will bolt to the next one. Jeff subsequently made the end pieces for the next two modules as well so everything will line up with the next modules. On top of this framework sits 2" insulation foam glued into place with Gorilla glue.
This is the module with the insulation foam glued in. The American Models trackbed foam is also glued into place on the insulation foam and the beginnings of the "pasture" area with a small bluff are built onto it.
This is the current look of the pasture with the ground cover and static grass applied and the bluff stained. This was Jeff's first attempt at doing scenery, and it looks very good at this early stage.
This photo shows the module with a quick ground coat applied. Jeff temporarily placed buildings where he thinks he would like them.
This grain elevator is 100% scratchbuilt from scale drawings Jeff made prior to building the structure. Work is still progressing on it, with more details planned.
