Marvin Harger, concerned about the number of visible screws his lamp installation would wind up having, came up with this idea of tying a large nut to the wiring of the lamp, under the layout surface, to hold it in place. Not only does it eliminate the need for screws, it is also handy for when cleaning the layout, or accidentally hitting the lamppost during operating of the layout, as the lamppost would automatically return back to its normal position.
