This model was produced from 1946 through 1953 and has 14 variations. Five variations all from 1946 have a plastic chassis. As seen in the photo, the car is warped because of the unstable plastic used at that time. Beginning in 1947, Gilbert went to a die cast frame in order to correct the warping issue, and so as such there are five variations of the #629 with die cast chassis that were produced from 1947 through 1953. Finally the #629 was produced with a sheet metal chassis from 1949 through 1953 with four variations.

The #929 was produced from 1952 through 1957 in five variations. One of the rare models made in 1952, which is painted red, has early knuckle couplers that are riveted to the truck assembly, as shown in the foreground of the photo. Photo #2, on the left side of the photo, shows the typical crimped style knuckle coupler used on the #929 starting in 1953, while the car on the right shows the early riveted knuckle coupler used in 1952. Only three other 1952 cars and some of the K325 locomotives have the riveted knuckle couplers. The second variation, shown in the rear, is painted red with standard knuckle couplers and a two-piece brake wheel. The third variation has a tuscan-painted body with a two-piece brake wheel. The fourth is like the third except it has a one-piece brake wheel. The fifth variation, which is the rarest of all five variations, was produced in 1957. It is painted tuscan over a black shell however, unlike all of the other variations, it has open slats and came in a box marked "1956", "929" and "24072".

According to Greenberg the #24076 Union Pacific Stock Car was produced from 1957 through 1960. They indicate that there were four variations, but there were actually five. Three of the variation have knuckle couplers. The three variations with knuckle couplers are as follows. The first variation has red lettering, door guides that are fastened with rivets, and knuckle couplers. The second is like the first except that it has interior bulkheads that divide the car into thirds. The car in the main photo is actually a third variation not mentioned by Greenberg. It has red lettering, door guides that are pressed into the body, and sintered-iron trucks and knuckle couplers. The two remaining variation have Pike-Master trucks and couplers that most likely were produced in 1961 or later that came in the 1960-64 red & white box. The only difference in these two variations is that one has interior bulkheads that divide the car into thirds (see Photo #2), while the second does not have interior bulkheads. A #24076 UP Stock Car with Pike-Master trucks is more uncommon and to find one in an "All Aboard" package is a rare find. The reason for so few #24076 UP Stock Cars in an "All Aboard" box is that they were never produced much after 1961. Around 1965-66 Gilbert may have discovered they still had several #24076 in inventory and elected to package them in "All Aboard" packages to eliminate the inventory.

The kit had no manufacturer's number. The kit claims to build a 36-foot stock car, but the final model winds up being a 40-foot car. Also, it is too wide at ten feet. The instructions are for their O-scale version of this model with an O-scale brake wheel included and cast metal end sills. The kit includes exploded drawings and an O-scale assembly sheet with lettering board location diagrams for 24 different railroads. The lettering supplied was printed on pre-painted boards to be glued to the completed painted car. The main photo shows Alvin's model for which he used Northeastern Scale Models trucks and Kadee couplers. The model was weathered with chalk. Photo #2 is of the SP version Bob Hogan built. Photo #3 is Allen Ambler's Armour Stock Express model. Photo #4 is of the model built by Ed. He added complete brake piping and rigging to the KC brake casting, a retainer valve and its pipe, and a smaller brass brake wheel. The staples for grab irons that were furnished with the kit were replaced by Northeastern Scale Models' wire ones. He used Scalecoat II S-2013 Boxcar Red paint to paint the added details to match the kit's body color. Finally, he installed Kadee #802 couplers, and REX Bettendorf scale trucks. No decals were in the kit for the data lettering. The finished model is quite light.
