Ed added grab irons and Kadee #802 couplers. This model has a 6-foot door whereas the prototype used 8-foot ones. The real cars (400) were built by Pullman in 1957, and looked similar to the PS-1 design cars. The circled-T to the left of the road number indicates these cars were suitable to use in time saver service.

Also available with road number C336. Part #702 was the original kit version released in 1990. Has lighted interior. Lightning-bolt paint scheme. Holt's model is the older kit version. He made a few modifications, such as painted the roof and roof walk with Model Master flat black enamel, used 0.03" K&S brass rod for the curved side hand rails, and the short vertical rails on the ends of the main body, and painted all safety hand rails with yellow enamel. Window glazing was added. Working hi-rail couplers were added from his spare parts. International Car Co. built these bay window cabooses, C301 thru C350, for the Erie RR in 1953. The American Models prototype for this caboose was the Erie one. There is an in-depth article about how this model came to be in the June 1991 issue of the 3/16 "S"cale Railroading magazine.

Part #707 was the original kit version released in 1990, which is the model shown in the photo, which Holt built. He extended the side windows to better match the prototype, and he added window glazing. He also added the grab irons. The red paint scheme was late 1950s, before NYC went to jade green in the early 1960s. He also painted the end rails yellow. There is a product review in the October 1990 issue of the magazine.

Also produced as road number 752. Photo #2 is of the same model, but Holt relettered it for the B&M. This B&M caboose models one of an old series of mixed design wood cabooses built in the early 1900s, renumbered into the 104000 series after 1916, and given steel underframes in the 1930s. The B&M minute-man herald (Highball Graphics decal) was used just after WWII, and the yellow handrails date back to the early 1950s. All of the 104000s were retired by the mid 1960s. Light weathering was done with Testors rust and brown enamels; flat clear lacquer sealed the paint and decals. Flat black enamel finished the cab end details as per the prototypes. The appearance is mid-1950s. Instructions for how to gain access to the interior of this model can be found here.

Ken's model was built from the kit version. Photo #2 is Holt's partially re-painted model, to represent the car as it was in its mid-1950s appearance. This class of mill gondolas (#13700 - 13899) was built by Pullman Standard in 1951. The model features Highball Graphics decals and Model Graphics dry transfers for the lettering and numbers, sealed with a flat clear lacquer.

Holt's model was built from the kit version. The model in the background is the original American Models version (with a plain keystone) of the ready-to-run model. The one in the foreground is the older kit version (A.M. #404), which Holt modified by lettering it for the PRR's class G31D, with accurate road number #376128, and with the shadow keystone. These G31D prototypes were built by ACF in 1951-52, and were rebuilt and repainted by PRR shops in 1961-62 (as modeled by Holt).

Starting in late 2013, American Models produced this heavyweight baggage car as the NASG scale/hi-rail project car. This car was previously only available as part of the five-car Pennsylvania Railroad set. The photo shows a slightly modified version. It shows Kadee couplers installed (which do not come with the model), the talgo mounted coupler has been removed, and the truck has been turned 180 degrees and remounted in the hole nearest the end of the car (to make the trucks appear to be closer to the ends of the car). Neither of these changes are required to use the car as-is in your consist.

Special NASG-sponsored car project. This 80-foot heavyweight car is a 10-section, 1-drawing room, 2-compartment (10-1-2) sleeper car as designed, built, and operated by Pullman, painted in Pullman green. The cars came painted but not lettered, to allow the modeler to make the choice. Suitable dry-transfers were included. Initially, these models were only available to NASG members. However, the cars were a great success, so American Models started carrying them as a regular stock item. AF couplers and trucks were installed, but scale wheels and scale dummy couplers were provided in the box.

The cars came painted but not lettered, to allow the modeler to make the choice. Suitable dry-transfers were included. These CNR cars were, initially, painted in the wrong colors. A re-painting program was instituted, of which Andy (the owner of the model shown in the photos) re-painted a good number of cars. However, the model shown in the photos (one photo for each side) still has the original, incorrect color. See Photo #3 for the correctly-painted version. Initially, these models were only available to NASG members. However, the cars were a great success, so American Models started carrying them as a regular stock item. Special NASG-sponsored car project. This 80-foot heavyweight car is a 12-section, 1-drawing room (12-1) sleeper car as designed, built, and operated by Pullman, painted in two-tone gray. The cars came painted but not lettered, to allow the modeler to make the choice. Suitable dry-transfers were included. The model in the photo has been modified by Bill by using custom decals by Stan Cedarleaf for Bill's private railroad, the SLE&P (see Photo #2 for the AM original). Initially, these models were only available to NASG members. However, the cars were a great success, so American Models started carrying them as a regular stock item. AF couplers and trucks were installed, but scale wheels and scale dummy couplers were provided in the box.
