This rectifier was required in the 1950s to run DC locomotives powered by an AC transformer. Terry stated that this particular unit came with his first AF train set #5010 with a 1950 334 DC Northern locomotive. The set also included a #8B transformer.

150 watts. DC. "Electronic Rectiformer". This unit combines a transformer and a rectifier, allowing it to control DC locomotives directly, without needing an AC transformer. It did, however, have an AC output for connecting accessories that require AC current.
