The #26122 Scenic Straight Panel with Remote Control Whistle was offered by Gilbert in 1965 and 1966, in two variations. The first variation, shown in the accompanying photos, is without artificial snow and is considered to be very uncommon. The second variation, produced in 1966, was covered with snow is very rare. The #26122 panel has a built-in whistle. This is the same whistle unit Gilbert used in the #568 and #23568 Whistling Billboards. The whistle unit was concealed by the house. The panel itself was manufactured in Portugal and assembled in the United States. It has been reported that the house and possibly other components such as bridges, fences, etc. on this unit as well as the other All Aboard Scenic Panels were manufactured by Bachmann. The #26122 was never part of the four major sets that include either six, eight, or 12 panels and a train set. In 1966 Gilbert elected to cover some of the six-panel sets with artificial snow creating the fourth set and calling the set "Winter Wonderland". The #26122 was featured in the 1965 and 1966 catalogs with five other "Add-On Scenic Panels" that came either without snow in 1965-66 or with snow in 1966 that would allow the owner of any of the above-mentioned sets to expand their pike for added play value.
