The annual O Scale West / S West show is focused on two-rail O-scale and S-scale modelers who are interested in more true-to-scale modeling (no AF or three-rail models shown). However, anyone is welcome to attend. The shows are held for several days in California. They include vendors, how-to clinics, contests, operating display layouts, individual seller tables, and local layout tours (self-drive).
Even though the NASG is not directly involved with O Scale West / S West shows, we still wanted to have a page dedicated to this annual meeting.
From an S-scale perspective, this show started in 1995 because west coast modelers wanted to have something similar to the Fall S Fest and Spring Spree. The "S-West" multi-day convention was created. Some were held in conjunction with the O Scale West event, and some were stand-alone. Starting in 2006, the O Scale West and the Bay Area S Scalers (who were the dominant force behind the S-West events), decided to combine their efforts, and it became the annual O Scale West / S West show. Please note that the external links include O-scale models photos; not everything is S-scale.
May 23 to 25, 2019. Special O- and S-scale SP Interlocking Tower structure kits available ($50, includes tax) as part of this event (manufactured by S-scale modeler Michael Eldridge). S-scale Friends Dinner is to be held at the El Torito restaurant at 477 East Calaveras, Milpitas, CA at 5:30pm (paid reservation is required; contact Michael Eldridge). A special diorama contest will be held at this event, requiring the creative combination of diecast vehicles, farm equipment, and model trains (O-scale modelers may use vehicles from 1:43 through 1:50 scale). Visit the web site for hotel information. Sunday and Monday, May 26 & 27, several more layouts are open, some several hours away from the venue.
